FAQ

Source diversity ensures that people across races, cultures, orientations, and socio-economic background see themselves and their lived experiences represented in our journalism. It also allows our journalists to tell more authentic and culturally component stories, while expanding the tent of who is classified as an expert.

One of the easiest ways to be included in the pool of potential WHYY sources is being added to our database of grassroots leaders. Once there, our journalists and editors can search by keyword for individuals with a particular knowledge set and make contact. If you would like to be added to our database, please contact cnorris@whyy.org.

Sources can be individuals who are quoted in our news reports and/or booked as panelists for our Community Conversations. Sources can also provide our newsroom context and clarity on critical issues and recommend other residents for us to speak with.

WHYY maintains a practice of not compensating sources who speak with our journalists and editors for stories. However, WHYY does offer honorariums for sources who participate in our broadcast, such as panel shows and summits.
